#6 expansive drone into (maybe?) danceable groove and then some [SOLVED]

Today's guessable sound bite is a discarded work file of mine. Can you tell where it's from?

#6 by Guess a Sample

If you can't just yet, don't worry, some clues will be provided soon-ish.

Clue #1: the band split from 1976 to 1983

Clue #2: two members from the band that you do not hear on this sample met in a recording session for another musician to whom this piece is 'dedicated.

Clue #3: a track from the double album that came from these sessions actually bears the name of one of those members.

Clue #4: That double album had up to three keyboard players on one track, all distinguishable through panning. (balance / left-center-right)

[to make sure we're clear, two of the musicians from the band for which this sample we're trying to guess, they met at a recording session for another artist.

from that recording session came a double album, on which:

a) a song is named after one of said members

b) at times there is up to three keyboard players

and this sample we're trying to guess, comes from a song for which the title to refers back to the artist for which they both had recorded at the time.]

Clue #5: The opening track for the album during which our two members (drummer & guitarist) met is a 20 minutes modal foray that contains 19 edits and tape loops, pioneering the use of the recording studio as in instrument itself within jazz.

+++++

And this one has now been solved, by  over at youthink.

You can listen to the original piece over here

Congrats!
